A trek to Churdhar during Monsoon

CHURDHAR TEMPLE  (AT 3700 MTS FROM SEA LEVEL)

I had been planning to visit churdhar since the time I read a blog about it 2 years ago. This time I decided not to delay it any further.I asked Naveen to join me and he readily agreed but had to cancel his plans at the last moment because of some family obligations.

So, it was only me and me alone.
I took Howrah kalka express on 12th Augustt and reached kalka at around 5a.m. next day. At around 6, I boarded the toy train to Shimla and got off at Kumarhatti. From Kumarhatti, it was a walk upto the famous haunted Dagshai Graveyard.Thereafter straight To Nauradhar. Took a room in a hotel and started my journey next morning. It was raining heavily and the fog was very dense.
So, on 14th aug I started trek to Churdhar from Nauradhar. Churdhar is about 16 kms from Nauradhar (the base of the trek). Churdahar is also the highest peak of Shivalik range,(lesser Himalayas) where a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva has been built…Reached Churdhar on 14th night. Stayed in the dharamshala at Churdhar and started my journey towards Nauradhar the next morning.
I’m not a good story teller, so let this work to be done by pictures.

Enjoy the pics….in chronological order (i.e. Toy train,Dagshai and then Churdhar trek)

NOW THE TREK BEGINS(14th August)

on 14th morning I woke up early. It was raining heavily.I wanted to start early but i realised that my camera was not working properly.
so I had no option but to wait till 9 am so that I could get it checked when the market opens. Also, I wanted to puchase a raincoat and a small bag.
I did not find any sense in carrying all the stuff for 16kms up the mountain.so I put some basic things in the small bag and left my luggage at the hotel reception. At 10 I manged to start the trek. There are two halts on the way called "doosri" and "teesri" after 5km and 10 kms respectively, and no other place to eat or stay or take shelter.. Very few tourists on the way.
